I had the pleasure to work on this project at ETC London with a team of very talented people.
I was responsible for sculpting, modeling and texturing the four bears.
I started doing a ‘master bear model’, and then I modified it to match the proportions of every bear in the family (mum, dad, daughter, son). This way all of them shared the same base mesh / topology (same vertex IDs / UVs) -so they were all ‘blendshapable’ together- making the job easier for the riggers and groomers.
I also sculpted some details for displacement maps in the visible skin areas (nose, paws, mouth…), and painted the textures for the skin, eyes, teeth… and for the fur (tips and roots).
For this project I’ve used Maya (modeling, unwrapping), ZBrush (sculpting), Mari (texturing) and Houdini / Mantra (look development, rendering).
